It's said that Hawaiian macaroni salad made its way onto the plate lunch once Europeans introduced dry elbow macaroni & mayonnaise to the islands. Locals quickly adopted these ingredients because mac salad was affordable, not perishable (unlike a potato salad), & easy to make at home.


HAWAIIAN MAC


INGREDIENTS

Include everything your reader needs to make this recipe perfectly, with measurements, optional additions, or alternatives. For example:

  • 5 lbs macaroni

  • 6 oz apple cider vineagar

  • 2 cup sweet onion

  • large chop

  • milk

  • salt

  • 2 cups shredded carrots

  • fine shred

  1. Bring Water to Boil

  2. Add pasta + salt

  3. Lower heat, simmer for 21 minutes

  4. Strain

  5. Cool

  6. Mix together

  7. Add scallions

  8. Add Green Onions

  9. Store in 12qt container

  10. Label with name + date
